Grey hydrogen<\/strong> is currently the most widely produced type of hydrogen. It is generated through steam methane reforming of natural gas, without any carbon capture<\/strong>. This results in the highest carbon footprint among hydrogen production methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite its emissions, grey hydrogen remains an important part of today\u2019s hydrogen economy due to its lower production costs and widespread availability. In public transport, it may serve as an intermediate solution on the path toward the future use of low- and zero-emission hydrogen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
