Blue hydrogen – a greener alternative to grey
Blue hydrogen is produced from natural gas using a process called steam methane reforming, combined with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. While not as climate-friendly as green hydrogen, it is significantly cleaner than grey hydrogen.
Blue hydrogen can serve as a transitional fuel in the public transport sector, helping cities take a step toward low-emission mobility and carbon neutrality. It offers a realistic short- to medium-term solution where renewable energy is not yet fully available at scale.
